Advanced First Responder
ADVANCED • FIRST RESPONDER
This unit standard is to enable the first responder to react to emergencies at an advanced first aid level, until the arrival of more professional emergency personnel.
Carer's Course
INTERMEDIATE • CARER
This unit standard will enable the learner to provide nursing care and support to both the patient and family when faced with the situation of long-term illness. The learner will function within the scope of practice of an enrolled auxiliary nurse as formulated by the South African Nursing Council Regulations, institutional policies related to specific occupational settings and the parameters of the capabilities of the learner at this level.
First Aid Level 1
BEGINNER • FIRST AID
This unit standard is for persons required to assess the emergency situation and providing basic life support and basic First Aid in order to stabilise patients prior to transfer to the emergency services.
First Aid Level 2
INTERMEDIATE • FIRST AID
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the workplace. This unit standard is required to assess the emergency situation and provide basic Life Support and Basic First Aid in order to stabilise a victim prior to transfer to the emergency Services
First Aid Level 3
ADVANCED • FIRST AID
This unit standard is to enable the first responder to react to emergencies at an advanced first aid level, until the arrival of more professional emergency personnel.
Health & Safety
ADVANCED • FIRST AID
This unit standard is for those people giving an induction of health and safety principles to new personnel and the person credited with this unit standard is able to explain the duties of both the employees and employers with regard to Occupational Safety and Heath in the workplace. Learners will be able to understand the requirements that apply to persons entering the workplace and performing any duties therein as well as the requirements for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), housekeeping and emergency procedures that apply to the workplace.
